WanWan Samurai
Description
When all seems lost, it’s up to one samurai shibe to suit up and avenge her owner. Jump, slash, and combo your way through a barrage of enemies in a cyberpunk, auto-scrolling adventure that’s more than meets the eye. Or not... kinda depends on the eye I guess.
My Role
I was a co-developer of WanWan Samurai. I assisted in the design, art, and programming of the game. Almost all of the work was done independently or with my co-developer.

WanWan Samurai is a 2D infinite running platformer.
The player utilizes a combination of different abilities to dodge and fight enemies as they fly at them at high speeds.
The game features up to three different zones, each with different sets of enemies, art, music, and gameplay.
Additionally, the game features a combo counter that allows the player to progress in score far quicker if they can link attacks together without touching the ground.
This is the final zone of the game.
There are new enemies, and the player is moving extremely fast at this point, as the player’s speed ramps up over time infinitely.
To stay with the retro arcade style, I implemented a cube based particle effect when the player slices down enemies.
The player can reset their jump on kills to stay off the ground and build up their combo meter up to 20 times, earning them an instant 2000 points.
Both the gunners and the drones can fire bullets at the player which can then be reflected back at the enemies.

Additionally, here is a link to our itch.io page where you can download and play the game yourself. (Warning, it is harder than it looks)
If you play it enough, perhaps you’ll become a WanWan Samurai yourself.
